Hi, I'm Chris.

I'm a designer, problem solver and storyteller working on products for screens. I'm on the design team at Airbnb, and have previously worked with companies like Snap and Expedia. Get in touch at carvin@gmail.com or @chrisarvinsf.

  • Airbnb: Designing for Guests with Disabilities

I've been working on an initiative at Airbnb to help guests with physical disabilities find places to stay that meet their needs.

  • Where the Streetcars Used to Go

I created this interactive microsite visualizing San Francisco's long-gone streetcar routes. It was featured by SF Examiner, Hoodline and more.

  • Vurb: Discovery and Recommendations

I designed this new discovery experience for Vurb's mobile app, giving users a daily guide to trends around the web and places nearby.

  • Expedia for iPhone and Android

I was an interaction & visual designer at Expedia for four years, where I designed many pieces of their mobile app like travel itineraries, flight booking, and the entry experience.

  • Expedia for iPad and Tablets

This revamp of Expedia's iPad and tablet app put a focus on planning vacations and longer trips. Users can browse hotels and flights in their destination at the same time.

  • Overlap

A concept I designed and prototyped with a colleague to let friends create and coordinate casual plans. Users can create a plan for a flexible time or place, and change venues or times as the plan approaches.

  • baconreader

I designed, developed and marketed this reddit client for Android. OneLouder Apps acquired the app from me in 2011, and I worked with their product manager and developers to turn the beta into a public product with millions of installs.
